(Cleveland, TN) — This year the Yamaha Facility Challenge was held at Cleveland Country Club. PGA Professionals, Assistants and Superintendents from facilities across the section competed in multiple divisions, a gross and net division where they would compete for a total purse of $12,800.
This newly formed event is a combination of the Pro-Assistant and Pro-Super. The facility challenge allows for a facility to bring a Pro-Assistant team or a Pro-Super team. If a team has a Pro, Assistant, and Super that forms the Facility team. If not all three were present those players competed in just the Pro-Assistant or Pro-Super divisions. In the Facility division Johan Kok, PGA, Jesse Grimes, PGA and Thurston Farrar of Troubadour Golf & Field Club carded the low round of the day posting a 65 (-7) to take home the victory.
The Pro-Assistant division went to the team of Walt Chapman, PGA and Braxton Hunter, PGA and Walt Chapman, PGA and Allie Knight, PGA of Fairways and Greens both tying with a 65 (-7). Johan Kok, PGA and Thurston Farrar took the Pro-Super gross division finishing with a round of 67 (-5).
The Tennessee PGA Section would like to give a thank you to Cleveland Country Club for their hospitality. In addition we would like to give a special thank you to those who sponsored the Yamaha Facility Challenge: Shannon Caverly, PGA with Yamaha, Andrew Lamie, PGA with Imperial, Matt Coots with Under Armour, Jon Jacey, PGA with Evolve Golf, and Chris Coleman with United Rentals.
