(Murfreesboro, TN) – The final round of the Tennessee Junior PGA Championship at Old Fort Golf Club is complete. After multiple weather delays cutting the tournament to a 27-hole championship the boys and girls divisions played their final nine holes to try to move up the leaderboard. Round two proved to be great scoring conditions as many players in the field were able to post rounds under par.
The boys division played the front nine where they were able to attack the course with good scoring conditions. Maddox Crowder ( Lafayette, TN) recorded the lowest round of the day tallying five birdies to finish tied for fourth at 6-under par. First round leader Will Pinson (Franklin, TN) fired a 33 (-3) to finish at 9-under par overall to claim the championship and a spot in the 46th Junior PGA Championship at Cog Hill Golf & Country Club in Palos Park, Illinois in August. Joining him will be Owen Queener (Knoxville, TN) who finished in a tie with Collin Keino (Maryville,TN) at 7-under after the 27 holes to force a playoff. Queener would go on to birdie the first playoff hole to advance to Cog Hill Golf & Country Club. Keino won the boys 13-15 age division while Griffin Law (Chattanooga, TN) finished second at 5-under par.
In the girls division Claire Henson (Jackson, TN) came into the final round holding a 5-shot lead over the field. She would only record one birdie and a double bogey through the nine holes today to drop to 5-under overall. That would be enough to claim the championship and the qualifying spot to the 46th Junior PGA Championship at Cog Hill Golf & Country Club in Palos Park, Illinois in August. Caroline Pardue (Murfreesboro, TN) fired a 1-under final round to move to 1-under overall moving her into second to claim the final qualifying spot. In the girls 13-15 division Sophie Christopher (Germantown, TN) claimed the top spot at 1-over overall, while Alexis Fishel (Lenior City, TN) and Annabelle Walton(Brentwood, TN) tied for second at 11-over overall.
We would like to thank Old Fort Golf Club for hosting this year’s Tennessee Junior PGA Championship and all of the participants who made it a fun two days. We look forward to seeing you all back next year.
