The Tennessee National Car Rental PGA Jr. League Section Championship was held in Gallatin, Tennessee over the weekend. Tennessee Grasslands Golf and Country Club played host to four 13 and under All-Star teams and 4 17 and under All-Star teams from across the state.

In the 13U division the four teams competed in a head to head match for flags. Of the four teams, the Tri-Cities and Westhaven teams advanced to the championship match. In a tightly contested championship match the Tri-Cities team pulled out the victory through a scorecard playoff! This marks the third straight section championship win for the Tri-Cities 13U program. This year’s Tri-Cities 13U program is captained by Jermey Beachner, PGA and Chris Woods, PGA.  Runner-up Westhaven 13U is captained by Chris Cauthen, PGA and the third place Chattanooga team is captained by Tom Durbin, PGA and Wesley Jones.

In the 17 and under division teams competed in a 18-hole scramble, stroke-play where each of the All-Star Teams were broken into three two-person scramble teams. The best two scores from each team through both 9-holes were used to decide a champion.  The Indian Hills team would go on to win the division with a score of 66 – 65 – 131, besting the next closest team by 11-shots.  The Indian Hills team is captained by Matt Walter, PGA and Philip Dean.

The two teams who advanced to the 2022 PGA Jr. League Regional Championship were: the 13 and under Tri-Cities All-Stars and 17 and under Indian Hills All-Stars.  They will compete at WindStone Golf Club in Ringgold, Georgia September 16-18.

Section Qualifiers and Championships are the first of three phases in the National Car Rental PGA Jr. League Championship Season, which highlights the aspirational nature of competition celebrated in a way unique to PGA Jr. League.
