Isabella van der Biest Wins the 2019 Tennessee Section Girls Junior PGA Championship
Franklin, TN– Isabella van der Biest of Kingsport, TN won the 2019 Tennessee Girls Junior PGA Championship on Tuesday, June 4th at River Bend Country Club in Shelbyville, TN
Isabella will have the opportunity to join 144 of the nation’s top female junior golfers in the PGA of America’s premium junior event, the 44th Girls Junior PGA Championship, hosted at Keney Park Golf Course in Hartford, Connecticut. Keney Park Golf Course is home to the Hartford Women’s Open and was recently restored in 2014. The 44th Girls Junior PGA Championship will be held from July 9-12, 2019.
Isabella, 16, shot a total of 142 (74, 68) for the Championship and edged out Kynadie Adams.
Each of the 41 PGA of America Sections has the opportunity to send 2 players to Connecticut. Therefore, along with Isabella, Kynadie Adams of Gallatin, TN will also be competing at Keney Park Golf Course. Kynadie earned her spot through her second-place finish at this year’s Championship.
The Girls Junior PGA Championship is where some of the best in the world get their start. Many of today’s LPGA Tour professionals made their debut at the Championship. Notable past participants include: Inbee Park, Lexi Thompson, Cristie Kerr, Grace Park, Michelle Wie, and Dottie Pepper.
