CHATTANOOGA, TN – The 2021 Tennessee Senior PGA Professional Championship was forced to be cut to 18-hole after Council Fire Golf Club became unplayable for round two due to the amount of rainfall the area saw overnight and Tuesday morning. With the championship being shortened, round one leader Bobby Cochran, PGA secured the title over 27 other senior professionals. Players battled for their chance to claim one of four spots in the 2021 Senior PGA Professional Championship presented by Cadillac at PGA Golf Club on October 21-24, 2021. The top nine players in the field finished their rounds at even-par or better.
Bobby Cochran (Germantown, TN) carded the low round of the tournament carding an impressive bogey free 64 (-8) to win by three-shots. “I played really well,” said Cochran. “I was striking the ball well to put it close and was able to make the putts.” Cochran wins the title in his first start in the Senior Professional Championship.
Chris DeBusk (Chattanooga, TN) took advantage of having a home game. DeBusk, the general manager at Council Fire, fired a 67 (-5) to finish solo second. Walt Chapman (Knoxville, TN), Bill Breen (Nashville, TN), and Henrik Simonsen (Ooltewah, TN) finished in a three-way tie for third after carding rounds of 3-under par (69).
Rolex Senior Player of the Year points leader Jared Melson (Tullahoma, TN) made the turn with a bogey free 34 (-2) to put himself in striking distance. Melson played the back-nine even par recording two birdies and two bogeys to finish 2-under par (70). He sits in solo sixth heading into tomorrow’s final round.
